Huisache is apparently from Nahuatl and means ‘many thorns,’ as per the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Database (linked). It’s a leguminous tree—an adjective I happen to especially love for whatever reason. ‘Leguminous’ …. I mean… it’s kind of delightful. But these trees are wonderful!!!
